Andee Liu

Originally from Wales, United Kingdom, Andee Liu started his musical career playing for local punk and rock bands at the age of 14. He began teaching drums privately at 17, before going on to graduate with a BA in Music from University of Bristol. While there, he joined the university’s premier big band and became a fixture in the city’s music scene, playing weddings and acting as house drummer in weekly jam sessions.

Andee’s love for music and drumming led him to successfully audition for Berklee College of Music where he attended in 2019 on scholarship. He was able to study under legendary educators such as Ralph Peterson Jr., Tony “Thunder” Smith, Dave DiCenso, Lil John Roberts, and Francisco Mela, amongst others. Andee became heavily involved with the Voice Department as an accompanist, which saw him selected for prestigious vocal showcase concerts, including opening for the New York Voices. He graduated in May 2023 and moved to Los Angeles, where he is currently working as a session musician, arranger, producer and instructor.

Over the course of his performance career, Andee has been able to play sell-out gigs at legendary venues such as Ronnie Scotts and Royal Albert Hall with the Roella Oloro Trio, and he has worked with many artists in a variety of styles ranging from pop to jazz, to rock, RnB and more. He has also performed in pit bands for musical theatre shows such as Cabaret, Legally Blonde, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, and RENT. As an educator,

 

Andee has taught a wide variety of students of different ages, backgrounds, and levels. He is proficient in both in-person and online teaching, with a flexible teaching style to suit every student’s needs. His expertise in a vast range of music genres has resulted in students who have toured with nationally renowned UK metalcore bands, as well as former alumni of the jazz conservatory Trinity Laban in London.
