Sarah Suarez
Sarah Suarez is a Colombian American vocalist, songwriter, producer, performer, and music educator whose work is rooted in the power of music to foster creativity, connection, and self-discovery. Raised between Bogotá, Colombia and Orlando, Florida, Sarah developed a love for singing from an early age. Her musical education began through contemporary music programs, choir, and contemporary a cappella, where she also developed a foundation in music theory, arranging, and songwriting.
Sarah’s passion for music has always been closely connected to her curiosity about people and the ways music can shape our emotional and social lives. This led her to Berklee College of Music, where she pursued a double degree in Music Therapy and Songwriting with a minor in Psychology.
During her time at Berklee, Sarah completed numerous music therapy practicums working with diverse populations and age groups, gaining experience facilitating music-based sessions in a variety of settings. She also co-founded Nuestra Medicina, a community arts collective that partners with local nonprofits to facilitate community songwriting sessions for the Latine community.
The project continues today, reflecting Sarah’s commitment to creating inclusive spaces where people can connect through music and storytelling. Alongside her work in music therapy and community arts, Sarah has dedicated herself to developing her craft as a songwriter, artist, and producer. She has explored songwriting across genres, with a particular passion for lyric writing in both English and Spanish. Her experience includes co-writing with other artists, recording in professional studios, arranging, music production, and developing her own artistry.
Sarah is currently completing her music therapy internship as she works toward becoming a board-certified music therapist, while simultaneously pursuing a career as a songwriter and music industry professional.
As a teacher, Sarah believes that music education should be both technically enriching and personally meaningful. She creates a supportive, encouraging environment where students can develop their musical skills while building confidence and discovering their own creative voice. Whether a student is interested in singing, songwriting, performance, developing their musicianship, or simply exploring a new form of self-expression, Sarah works to meet each student where they are and help them pursue their individual goals. Drawing from her backgrounds in songwriting, music therapy, psychology, and performance, she encourages students to see music not only as a skill to develop, but also as a resource for self-expression, connection, self-discovery, and joy.
