Lauren Oeser

Lauren Oeser grew up in the small mountain town of Evergreen Colorado, where she began learning the violin at age nine with her first teacher, Barb Casanova. As a young music student, she primarily enjoyed classical orchestral playing and regularly participated in her school’s orchestra program and the Jefferson County All-County Honor Orchestra. She joined the Denver Young Artists Conservatory Orchestra in 2016 and then the Young Artists Orchestra in 2019.

Lauren began studying with Colorado Symphony and Ivy Street Ensemble-member Erik Peterson in 2017 after joining DYAO. She then participated in the Colorado All-State Symphony Orchestra for three years in a row, the Western States Honor Orchestra Festival, and performed with her community orchestra, the Evergreen Chamber Orchestra. Lauren participated in her local Solo and Ensemble festivals yearly, receiving Superior scores each year.

In 2019, she competed in the Evergreen Chamber Orchestra’s Young Artist Solo Competition, winning second prize with the first movement of the Bruch Violin Concerto. She also joined Solisti Rossi, a chamber orchestra ensemble founded by Erik Peterson, where she performed as a soloist and in various chamber ensemble settings. Currently, Lauren is a rising senior at the Boston Conservatory at Berklee, where she is pursuing her B.M. in violin performance under renowned Professor Lynn Chang and is currently a member of the Boston Conservatory Conductor’s Orchestra. Since moving to Boston, she has performed at Symphony Hall, NEC’s Jordan Hall, and Mechanics Hall in Worcester. Lauren also greatly enjoys playing chamber music and attended Rocky Ridge Music in 2015, which is where her love for chamber music began. She has continued attending summer festivals featuring chamber music, such as the Marrowstone Music Festival, the Meadowmount School of Music, the Harvard Five Sparks Chamber Festival, and the Ascent Chamber Music Festival, and participates in chamber music at the Boston Conservatory. In 2017, Lauren began teaching private violin students out of her home studio in Evergreen. Her students participate in their school orchestra programs, youth orchestra programs, solo and ensemble competitions, and All County Orchestra festivals. Her goal is to help students become well-rounded musicians and to help them reach their musical goals; this is achieved through lessons that focus on developing healthy physical techniques for playing the violin, learning and applying effective practice techniques, and understanding music theory. She encourages students to express themselves and convey their ideas through their music and believes that learning an art form such as music should be fun and engaging. Although classical music is her main domain, she enjoys teaching (and playing) other genres as well, such as pop and folk music. Aside from regularly performing and teaching, Lauren likes to hike and ski, spend time with her loved ones, and explore new places.
