
Joshua Rosenthal
New England-based violinist, teacher and researcher Joshua Rosenthal is currently pursuing his B.M. in violin performance at Boston Conservatory under Lynn Chang, minoring in history. Rosenthal has appeared on NPR and PBS in the United States as a soloist and has performed in esteemed halls across the US, Europe and Africa, including the Berliner Philharmoniker, Lincoln Center in New York City, and Cape Town City Hall.
An accomplished chamber musician, Rosenthal co-founded the experimental Quartet 403 and was previously a member of the Maine-based JAKS Quartet. He has received numerous accolades for his work in chamber music, including the Anna Bereziuk and Lindley Wood Ensemble Prize at Bay Chamber Concerts’ Young Stars of Maine prize program and the Martin Güterman Memorial Chamber Music Scholarship at New England Conservatory’s Preparatory School.

A native of the Washington, DC metropolitan area, Rosenthal was raised in Maine and currently splits his time freelancing and studying between Boston, MA and Portland, ME. He hosts the traditional music research podcast Folkologique, co-founded the Boston-based exploratory music collective Retail Space Available, and is an active member of the American Society for Ethnomusicology. Upon completing his degree at Boston Conservatory, Rosenthal plans to continue his education in the field of ethnomusicology.
