Jorge Adorno

My name is Jorge Adorno, and I am a musician, pianist, producer, and certified music educator with a passion for helping students discover their own voice through music. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Music with a certification in Education from Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico, and I am currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Music Production at Berklee College of Music. I teach trumpet, piano and guitar.

My musical background goes beyond piano. During my bachelor’s studies, I formally studied both piano and classical guitar, and I also played trumpet in both marching band and concert band. These experiences have given me a well-rounded understanding of music, from solo performance and technique to ensemble playing, rhythm, listening, and musical expression. I believe this broader musical experience allows me to help students understand not only how to play an instrument, but how to express themselves through it.

Piano has been one of the most important instruments throughout my musical journey. My experience covers a wide variety of styles, including classical music, jazz, salsa, bolero, merengue, pop, and contemporary music. I especially enjoy teaching chord theory, jazz harmony, improvisation, rhythm, and music theory, while also helping students develop strong fundamentals such as proper technique, scales, sight-reading, ear training, and coordination.

My current studies in music production have also expanded my approach to the piano. I work with digital pianos, synthesizers, recording software, and modern music production techniques, allowing me to connect traditional piano instruction with contemporary music-making. Students who are interested in songwriting, production, or modern sounds can explore how their piano skills can translate into those areas as well.

As a certified teacher, I understand that every student learns differently. My teaching style focuses on the individual student’s goals, interests, and learning style. Whether a student wants to learn classical repertoire, play their favorite songs, explore jazz and improvisation, understand music theory, or simply develop a new passion for piano, I want lessons to feel engaging and meaningful. My goal is to help students become well-rounded musicians who develop strong technique while also building creativity, confidence, musicality, and a genuine love for their instrument.

I want every student to leave a lesson feeling that they learned something new and, most importantly, excited to keep making music.
